Interview: Ben Javens.

Yorkshire born, Birmingham based illustrator Ben Javens kicks off the interviews for 2012. His bright and charming designs have a gorgeous printed quality to them. Combined with his stylised characters and bold colour pallet it results in designs that are both endearing and oh so fun. He was kind enough to take 5 minutes to answer our quick 10.


What is your greatest achievement? 
My daughter Mabel.

How would you describe your Work/Style to someone who hadn't seen it? Uncharacteristically Chipper.

What piece/product/design do you wish you had thought of? 
A toy gun with a bulldogs head, which opens its mouth and squeaks when you pull the trigger.

Who would you most like to work with? 
My daughter, Mabel. 

What is the worst job you have ever had? 
Feeding copper piping into a machine that bends it...no wait...throwing old clothes into a machine that shredded them...no wait...peeling stickers off the side of old vans...no wait...stacking pick and mix salad dressing pots...no wait...

If you were on death row what would your last meal be? 
Pie.  

What is the greatest film of all time? 
The Graduate.

What do you dislike most about popular culture? 
Bad music.

What is the greatest invention of all time? 
T.V

If you didn't do what you do, what would you do? 
Sleep.
