What is your greatest achievement? 

I think the thing I’m happiest with is simply being able to work from home &  listen to music all day

whilst drawing.

How would you describe your work/style to someone who hadn't seen it? 

clean & conceptual 

What piece of advice would you give your 15 year old self? 

learn an instrument, read more & don’t eat so many biscuits…

When are you happiest? 

It’s a toss up between the 5 minutes after I finish a drawing, the curtain opening at the movies &

cooking 

What is the worst job you have had? 

I’ve been pretty lucky really but I did work in a basement for a few months (I had to wear a padded

boiler-suit to stay warm) 

Who would play you in the movie of your life? 

Rick Moranis please!

What is your karaoke song? 

I’ve only done it once but i remember attempting to rap quite a lot… maybe sugarhill gang?

What 5 things can't you live without?  

hummus

If you didn't do what you do, what would you do? 

probably a librarian

What is your greatest achievement?

My greatest achievement will probably be the fact of making a living from illustration.

Working on something you love is one of the best things you can achieve.

How would you describe your work/style to someone who hadn't seen it?

Always hard to talk about your own work. Anyway I think my work is simple, fun and colorful

What piece of advice would you give your 15 year old self?

"Do more crazy stuff!! it´s gonna be ok in 15 years, I guarantee"

When are you happiest?

When I´m peacefully drawing, with my music on.

What is the worst job you have had?

Well I wouldn´t say "worst" but the less interesting job I´ve ever had was to work

on a restaurant. Everyday the same thing over and over again.

Who would play you in the movie of your life? 

Maybe someone like Jack Black!

What is your karaoke song?

I´m not really into Karaoke, but I guess "My Way" is one I would choose to sing.

Also something from Foo Fighters or NOFX.

What 5 things can't you live without?

Excluding friends and family wich are not things, I would say internet, paper, pencil, guitar,

headphones

What is the greatest invention of all time? 

Football?

If you didn't do what you do, what would you do?

I would have love to be a musician but being realistic I think I would be a broker ;)

What is your greatest achievement?

Being able to live my dream. With all its ups and downs.

How would you describe your work/style to someone who hadn't seen it?

Vector-based illustrations with a twist from past decades. Attention to details. Good feel. Easy to

approach.

What piece of advice would you give your 15 year old self?

Stay curious and keep exploring. Do what you want. Fear no mistakes.

When are you happiest?

After I´ve just managed to wrap a project up with a fine piece of artwork, the sun is shining and it´s time to go out.

What is the worst job you have had?

Worked couple of days as a bike messenger in the past. Riding a bike wasn´t fun anymore.

Who would play you in the movie of your life? 

Leonardo DiCaprio. I appreciate his talent and he could look boyish enough to play me :)

What is your karaoke song?

I hate karaoke.

What 5 things can't you live without?

Laptop, bike, rye bread, lake/sea and a good pair of jeans.

What is the greatest invention of all time? 

Internet.

If you didn't do what you do, what would you do?

Perhaps something that would be considered as a real job.

What is your greatest achievement?

Do the job of my dreams.

How would you describe your work/style to someone who hadn't seen it?

I would say retro, minimalist and childish.

What piece of advice would you give your 15 year old self?

Time flies, enjoy every moment.

When are you happiest?

When I'm with my cat Mikado.

What is the worst job you have had?

Selling magazines.

I don't sing because I sing very badly !

Tea, paper, pencil, shampoo, ipod.

Electricity.

If you didn't do what you do, what would you do?

I would like to be floral designer.

Interview with Andrew Lyons

What is your greatest achievement?

I think just being able to earn a living doing something that I love is my greatest achievement. It’s not something that everyone is able to do so I feel lucky for that, I still pinch myself sometimes.

How would you describe your work/style to someone who hadn't seen it?

Difficult question! I’m really unsure how to describe my work. Maybe as… Hergé inspired comic style figures living in geometric, abstracted landscapes?

What piece of advice would you give your 15 year old self?

I was a very quiet 15 year old, so I’d tell myself to get outside and have some fun! I’d also recommend studying Illustration instead of Fine Art, that would have saved me years of wondering what to do with myself.

When are you happiest?

When I’m with my three children, watching them draw and listening to them tell me stories. 

What is the worst job you have had?

I’ve worked nightshifts on assembly lines where you’d watch the clock all night. Not much fun, but the worst was working in Macdonalds for a year. I wouldn’t want to do that again. 

Who would play you in the movie of your life? 

I guess I’d pick David Schwimmer. He’s seems a bit geeky and awkward like me.

What is your karaoke song?

I’ve only sung Karaoke once where I sang ‘King of the Road’ in a bar in Great Yarmouth. So that’d be my song. 

What 5 things can't you live without?

My mandolin. My iPad. I also have a grey bag over my shoulder where ever I go to carry important things. A cup of Earl grey tea. Finally, my agents Handsome Frank because they are ace. 

What is the greatest invention of all time? 

I’m going to have to say the Internet. It’s just mind glowingly amazing. I love how some much information is available at the touch of a button. 

If you didn't do what you do, what would you do?

I can’t imagine doing anything else other than drawing pictures. I think that I’ll always be doing this, even if one day they stop paying me to do it.
