Because it's Friday.....

and the 8 second break from 1.51 to 1.60 is KILLER... although if Freda was my mate I'd tell her to man up a bit but she's so darn cute that we'll let her off.

Featured!! Print and Pattern.

Bowie Style did a feature on the cards at Paperchase and featured one of our Heidi cards and some of our Pantone cards too. See the full post here

1973 loves LFW

Here at 1973 we like to look at all aspects of design to inspire us and alert us to up-and-coming trends and colour pallets. London Fashion week is no exception. So much influence in design comes from this one event. As it trickles down to the high street and into different mediums you can't help but be inspired. Here are a couple of my faves......

MAN: I always really like the MAN show, even though the male models are by far prettier than the average woman. The tailoring at this show is always spot on. I must point out that I like the clothes for myself, I couldn't imagine my boyfriend in a sheer lilac top.

Marios Schwab: Mixing silk and leather, funny Joan Jett-esque mullets.. Beautiful graphics and use of contrasting fabrics

details: amazing embroidery by Jenny King whom my sister assists sometimes when she's not busying herself with having babies. Jenny's embroidery has a folky yet clean finish to it much like our Heidi range. (nice plug huh!?)

Richard Nicoll gorgeous colour pallet.... gotta love a bit of pleating

Michael van der Ham: an incredible talent. Anyone that can make 3 dresses sewn together look so beautiful deserves all the praise they receive. His 'collaged' creations are not for the faint hearted but here at 1973 we love innovation.

And on to Milan.....

Once you start looking.....

so Emma and I have been searching the internet for various 1973 posts, images, articles ect looking to archive bits and pieces. We came across another old feature (I need to be more vigilant) on Ewen Spencer photographer extraordinaire's blog, he's an old friend of the Emmerson clan. Ewen and his gang came and took photos of Emma's studio, his mounted prints and enjoyed a cup of coffee.

1973 loves....La Piscine

Roubaix Museum of Art and Industry is one of our French stockists. This museum shop is situated in a beautiful museum that was initially an art deco swimming pool built in 1927. The baths were constructed as a place for people of different race/class to meet and interact.

it now houses collections from the Roubaix National Museum. It still has lots of the original features and even still has the swimming pool situated in one of the gallery spaces.

not your average gift shop huh!

Top Drawer

Today is my first day back in the work seat since Top Drawer and what a Top Drawer it was. We had a great time and all worked jolly hard. James, Lucy Emma and I all manned the display and enjoyed the opportunity to catch up and meet old/new customers. While Jacqui was just as busy at HQ......I hope everyone else had a good experience. The end of the show however, means only one thing....the run-up to Christmas begins...eeek!

and I got to stay with this guy. The only hamster in Stoke Newington with its own bedroom...

Radiance Lighting..

One of our stockist Radiance Lighting have used some of our wrap in a very innovative way. Hannah the owner created these beautiful lamps using our Sanna Annukka and Sukie wrapping paper. Look at her blog here. We think they are really beautiful and we love to see our products used in different ways.
